About Lisa
With a background in "hard" science, I have the ability to problem solve and approach massage therapy with anatomy and function in mind. Being both right and left brained, my analytical technqiues are tempered with intuitive touch. I do my best to "listen" to your tissue to help find the technique that will work best for you, on that day, to help your tension unfurl and help your body rest in its natural alignment.
I have recently concentrated my studies and trainings to focus on nervous system and holistically supportive techniques. I am certified in Esalen, a nuturing and beneficially calming massage, and am working toward a certification in Visceral Manipulation, gentle and specific techniques that help bring better mobility and function to your abdominal organs, lungs, and heart.
While I shift my practice to these two concentrations, I continue to integrate in the tools I have used for 17+ years in practice: Myofascial cupping, Thai foot massage, trigger point therapy, CranioSacral 1, and an integrative approach to help bring your body and being into better self alignment.
What to expect from a session with me:
-
To feel relaxed and supported to find a deep, inner calm.
-
Esalen massage does not compartmentalize the body like other modalites; it incorporates "long strokes" in which half your body will be massaged at a time. This facilitates an embodied experience.
-
To experience a loosening of tissue and knots with the cupping techniques I have developed with 15+ years of experience with them.
-
I have weighted blankets, warm towels and hot packs, hot stones for the palms and body, and essential oils that I can custom blend for your session - all of these can help support nervous system settling and the foundation for you to create change within your body.
-
A customized session for your needs that day. Although I may use the same tools, I never give the "same" massage twice.
